Guernsey's main industries include dairy farming, fishing and flower growing. Guernsey is a British Crown Dependant with its own currency. Its climate is warmer than in the the UK and is an ideal location for outdoor activities including fishing, scuba diving, bird watching and windsurfing. Its historic Castle Cornet was the last Royalist stronghold of the English Civil War and is now home to museums and holds regular outdoor theatre productions. Guernsey is a mixture of styles including the Georgian and Regency influence enriched by an influx of French emigrants, including Victor Hugo who is the island most famous exile. Guernsey was occupied by the Germans in WWII and there is a museum, German troop observation tower and gun site.

Guernsey holds an Annual Flower Festival and has many outstanding gardens and parks as well as country houses to visit including Sausmarez Park with its subtropical gardens. St Peter Port offers a great shopping experience, it is famous for its low duty buys including perfume, wines and spirits but also holds various street markets including a farmers and fisherman market.
